More on Casa Guate
Elmer and I have purchased some land in Guatemala - this is the view from the property - it's beautiful - nothing but clean, crisp, fresh air (and a few scorpions). A dirt road leading up the mountain is just to the right of the property. His parents live right across the "street". There is a small house on the property now - a real fixer-upper - but I have many plans for Casa Guate.....

Titer frequents the Metroplex and Austin areas and can be caught on rare occasions in Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras.... the latter being the best time to be Titered.......

Trip to EP - July 1st - July 6th 2008
I packed up the boys (against their will) and drove to EP to visit my mom (that's her garden in the pic up there) with the mission of going through some of my grandmother's (Wita Chata) "things" in the scary storage sheds in her backyard (my mom is selling her house) ... my mom and I went through boxes and boxes and in the end I found nothing I really wanted. I did the sign of the cross and asked God to help me everytime I pulled a box from the shelf. I was attacked by a lizard in the process but other than that I was okay. I did bring back my grandmother's sewing machine and my great-grandmother's sewing machine (the boys and Lisa really enjoyed loading, unloading and loading them). In addition we visited my great-uncle's (Tio Tomasito) house in Piedras Negras - my grandmother took us their regularly growing up - I brought back an old trunk - not just any trunk - it is the trunk that scared me as a young child - it was said to contain my great-uncle's "hand" that he had lost in a construction accident - oh my - everytime I passed the room containing the trunk I'd run and I could sometimes feel the hand trying to grap me - YIKES! Apparently I was the only one who thought this as Norma and Nora don't recall this at all.....Any who - my mom and I finally opened the trunk - it contained a pile of blankets - no hand! The kids thought I was crazy when I advised them to load it up. Other than that I went to the parade (see the pics), to the festivities at Shelby park, saw the fireworks w/my mom on a random corner, enjoyed Norma's home cooking, I visited with my old pals - Normia - she is 5.5 months pregnant - she'll be 45 when she has her first child and we are all so excited for her. I also visited with Luisa and her daughter Valeria - we went to the Moderno and ended the nite with a couple of drinks at Applebee's. I had a great visit - we'll be back for Thanksgiving.....
